The Patient Safety Group considers everything that influences the provision of safe and effective care. Importantly, this includes the health and wellbeing of staff, which is a priority for all community pharmacy owners.
With this in mind, the Patient Safety Group has developed ten top tips guidance to support you to manage wellbeing in the pharmacy and to give suggestions on what to do if you or a team member feels under pressure.
Janice Perkins, Chair of the Patient Safety Group
“A happy pharmacy team will be a safer and more effective pharmacy team, so reducing stress will improve the quality of care that you are able to provide for your patients every day.”
For more information on managing health and wellbeing visit the Pharmacist Support website. Pharmacist Support is an independent charity working with pharmacists and pharmacy students. They provide free and confidential advice to those who find themselves confronted by difficult circumstances.
Mental Health First Aid also provides valuable training, which the members of the Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group have undertaken, to equip employees with the knowledge and confidence to provide Mental Health First Aid for the most common mental health issues as well as an understanding of how to help build a mentally healthy workplace, challenge stigma and support positive wellbeing.
